Dua e Qunoot is a witr prayer recited as a Sunnah practice. Like many duas, this dua is recited to seek Allah’s forgiveness, affirm belief in Allah SWT, and surrender to his will. اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِنِي فِيمَنْ هَدَيْتَ، وَعَافِنِي فِيمَنْ عَافَيْتَ، وَتَوَلَّنِي فِيمَنْ تَوَلَّيْتَ، وَبَارِكْ لِي فِيمَا أَعْطَيْتَ، وَقِنِي شَرَّ مَا قَضَيْتَ، إِنَّكَ تَقْضِي وَلَا يُقْضَى عَلَيْكَ، وَإِنَّهُ لَا يَذِلُّ مَنْ وَالَيْتَ، وَلَا يَعِزُّ مَنْ عَادَيْتَ، تَبَارَكْتَ رَبَّنَا وَتَعَالَيْتَAllahumma ihdini feeman hadayt, wa a’fini fiman afait, wa tawallani fiman tawallait, wa barik Li fima atait, wa qini sharra ma qadait, fa Innaka taqdi wa la yuqda Alaik, wa innahu la yadhillu man walait, Wa lā ya’izzu man ‘ādait, tabarakta Rabbana wa ta’alait.
“O Allah, guide me among those You have guided, pardon me among those You have pardoned, befriend me among those You have befriended, bless me in what You have granted, and protect me from the evil You have decreed. You decree, and none can decree over You. Indeed, he is not humiliated whom You have befriended, nor is he honored who is Your enemy. Blessed are You, our Lord, and Exalted.”

اے اللہ، تو مجھے ان لوگوں میں ہدایت دے جنہیں تو نے ہدایت دی، مجھے ان میں صحت دے جنہیں تو نے صحت دی، میری دوستی ان سے کر جو تیری دوستی رکھتے ہیں، جو کچھ تو نے مجھے دیا ہے اس میں برکت عطا فرما، اور مجھے اس برائی سے بچا جو تو نے مقدر کی۔ بے شک تو فیصلہ کرتا ہے اور تیرے خلاف کوئی فیصلہ نہیں کیا جا سکتا۔ جسے تو دوست رکھے وہ ذلیل نہیں ہوتا، اور جس سے تو دشمنی رکھے وہ عزت نہیں پاتا۔ اے ہمارے رب، تو بابرکت اور بلند ہے۔

اَللَّهُمَّ اِنَّا نَسۡتَعِيۡنُكَ وَنَسۡتَغْفِرُكَ وَنُؤۡمِنُ بِكَ وَنَتَوَكَّلُ عَلَيۡكَ وَنُثۡنِىۡ عَلَيۡكَ ٱلۡخَيۡرَ وَنَشۡكُرُكَ وَلَا نَكۡفُرُكَ وَنَخۡلَعُ وَنَتۡرُكُ مَنۡ يَّفۡجُرُكَ. اَللَّهُمَّ اِيَّاكَ نَعۡبُدُ وَلَكَ نُصَلِّئ وَنَسۡجُدُ وَاِلَيۡكَ نَسۡعٰى ونَحۡفِدُ ونَرۡجُوۡا رَحۡمَتَكَ وَنَخۡشٰى عَذَابَكَ اِنَّ عَذَابَكَ بِالۡكُفَّارِ مُلۡحِقٌٌ
Allah humma inna nasta-eenoka wa nastaghfiruka wa nu’minu bika wa natawakkalu alaika wa nusni alaikal khair, wa nashkuruka wala nakfuruka wa nakhla-oo wa natruku mai yafjuruka, Allah humma iyyaka na’budu wa laka nusalli wa nasjud wa ilaika nas aaa wa nahfizu wa narju rahma taka wa nakhshaa azaabaka inna azaabaka bil kuffari mulhik
O Allah! We implore You for help and beg forgiveness of You and believe in You and rely on You and extol You and we are thankful to You and are not ungrateful to You and we alienate and forsake those who disobey You. O Allah! You alone do we worship and for You do we pray and prostrate and we betake to please You and present ourselves for the service in Your cause and we hope for Your mercy and fear Your chastisement. Undoubtedly, Your torment is going to overtake infidels O Allah!

Hadith Regarding Dua e Qunoot
This is based on one of the authentic Hadith in At-Tirmidhi: 464, Abu Dawud: 1425, Narrated Al-Hasan ibn Ali
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) taught me some words that I say during the witr. (The version of Ibn Jawwas has: I say them in the supplication of the witr.) They were: “O Allah, guide me among those Thou hast guided, grant me security among those Thou hast granted security, take me into Thy charge among those Thou hast taken into Thy charge, bless me in what Thou hast given, guard me from the evil of what Thou hast decreed, for Thou dost decree, and nothing is decreed for Thee. He whom Thou befriendest is not humbled. Blessed and Exalted art Thou, our Lord.”
When and How to Read Dua e Qunoot
| Is dua e qunoot compulsory in witr? No, dua-e-qunoot is not compulsory, but it is Sunnah. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ recited it. Therefore, it is recited voluntarily to show obedience to Allah and total surrender. It brings the believer close to Allah (SWT) and strengthens Iman (faith) of the reciter. |
| How to learn Dua Qunoot? There are many ways to learn and memorize this dua: Start by reading the dua regularly and repeating it three times each day. Another way is to play the audio version of this dua repeatedly so it is ingrained in your memory. Just like the Quran, regularly recitation and listening is the best way to learn it. |
